DIY American Flag shorts
If you aren't sick of American Flag shorts, good for you... Keep reading lol.
We've probably seen every variation of the American Flag shorts but of course I had to give you another option and way of creating them.
What you'll need
-shorts
-scissors
-fabric pastel sticks ( Pastel Dye Sticks
)
-iron
Again, this is just another option so don't bite my head off. I know you can just use fabric.
First step is to make sure shorts are clean and free of debris. Now what I did was print out some star shapes, and cut them to make it a stencil. I used that to guide me and make the stars as even as possible but you can wing it if your nice that. I also wanted big stars but you can do what ever size you'd like.
I then took my blue pastel and proceeded to color in the star stencils. After I was done with my stars I started on my stripes. For the stripes I just took a book, and used the edge to create straight even lines. Then I filled in the lines with my pastel to create the stripes.
*Tip* Make sure the shorts have a hard surface between the legs holes. It helps a lot when coloring the shorts. You want the color to be as rich as possible.
Now the last step is important and if your using the fabric sticks then you should have saw this on the instructions. Take a piece of paper ( a black and white notebook size should be good), place on top of the design and then iron the paper. If your paper is not big enough just move it around. Iron on top of the paper until the whole design has been ironed.This step is going to help basically seal in the color and when you wash your shorts the design doesn't wash right off!!
